What is this warmth? Melting Winter’s icy tears, Piercing her misty breath, Soothing ills, Bringing life to frostbitten limbs. Peace, contentment, and joy all flow to me, From whence? Not a torrent of thrashing waves on oceans blue Or the crash of a river’s rapids, But a flow both gentle and soft. It is as nothing I have ever known, But I have always longed for its caress. And now I take this feeling in my arms. I let it embrace my soul, and fill my mind.


Mercor and Mafaeus Chapter 2Mafaeus sat in the den of their cozy house. It had been bought with the accumulated wealth of their father and designed by themselves. “Busy” was a good word to describe it. Everywhere one looked something new or interesting could be seen. A sharp division was found between the brothers’ possessions. Mercor was very tidy and Mafaeus had a very individualistic approach to organization. Above the mantel sat two busts, one of a great knight and the other of a great wizard. The busts had been gifts of their father shortly after they had chosen careers.Mercor and Mafaeus Chapter 2


Mercor and Mafaeus, Chapter 1A library there was, covered in a thick layer of dust from disuse. Tomes, scrolls, and even several stone tablets filled shelves along the walls and were piled upon ancient tables. At least, that is what the library was usually like. Now the dust had been unsettled, tables and benches smashed, and scrolls thrown askew onto the dirty floor. “Thank you!” Mafaeus shouted over the din as he continued to crawl about under tables trying to find the scroll. “Do not-,” he paused a moment to deliver another punch and kick, “mention it, brother!” “Bah!
